Surprise, the reason the Honda Civic looked like a hatch but wasn’t one was Honda was testing structural rigidity for a mid-engined Accord coupe in plain sight. After all the internet keyboard racers bitched and moaned constantly, Honda decided to pull the ultimate surprise.
The new Accord hybrid will be mid-engined with a massive v12 that uses two of their v6 engines bolted together with full hybrid system. It’ll be housed under a glass canopy like the Civic sedan.

Oh, by the by, it’s a dog-leg manual designed by McLaren. That’s why the McLaren Honda F1 team was lagging last year. They were busy making that transmission.
